FISH OILS ACNE TREATMENT

Since acne is caused by excess oil in the pores, many people are surprised to find that fish oil can help rid them of this skin condition. The truth is that fish oil can not only help get rid of acne, but it also provides a host of other health benefits as well.

Finding Fish Oil Tablets

When used as an acne treatment, fish oil is taken internally by ingesting tablets. Those who would like to try this method should find fish oil gel capsules that contain around 1g of fish oil along with some Vitamin E. The list of ingredients should also be checked to make sure there is no mercury, artificial colors, preservatives or fillers. If possible, a brand that has been independently certified to be free of additives and chemicals should be chosen.

Taking the Tablets

Patients should begin by taking one tablet in the morning for around a week. During this time, they should watch for any allergic reactions that might occur. Signs of allergies are redness and swelling of the skin. After being able to tolerate a lower dose, it is then safe to increase the intake to one pill twice daily. Once that has been well tolerated for a week or so, the dose can be increased to two tablets twice daily, which is the amount recommended for successful acne treatment.

Dietary Changes

Fish oil works best whenever users make certain changes to their diets. If possible, milk from hormone-induced cows should be avoided whenever using the fish oil treatment. Patients will also have more success with this remedy if they eat a diet full of leafy green vegetables and plenty of fiber. Foods that high in starch should be eaten in moderation, and this includes bread and potatoes.

Facial Cleansing

While fish oil helps improve the skin from the inside, regular cleansing is still needed to remove dirt and impurities from the outside. It is important to use a mild cleanser in the morning and in the evening followed by an astringent toner to help with this. Individuals might also want to use a light exfoliant once or twice a week while this acne treatment is ongoing in order to slough off dead skin cells that might end up clogging pores.

Cons

It can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to begin noticing the results from fish oil treatment. These tablets need to be taken consistently in order for this method to be effective. Fish oil tablets can interfere with some medications, so those who are taking prescription drugs should consult with their physician before trying this at-home acne treatment method. Consuming too much fish oil can be toxic, so individuals may need to adjust their dosage if they also consume a great deal of fish or seafood in their diets.

Using fish oil tablets to help reduce or eliminate acne takes very little time each day. This makes it an ideal choice for those who have busy lifestyles yet want a natural method that will improve the overall condition of their skin.
