Top 5 Treatments
Resorcinol is a special type of facial cream that not only helps to eliminate acne, but which can also help with more persistent skin disorders such as psoriasis and dermatitis. Follow the instructions below to use resorcinol as an acne treatment.
A resorcinol acne treatment should be applied on an as-needed basis for as long as your acne persists. You should use it only once or twice per day and discontinue use once your acne clears up. Be sure to wash your face thoroughly beforehand. Do not use a facial soap that is too harsh as this may aggravate your skin and make it more difficult for the resorcinol to operate.
Applying the Cream
You should apply your resorcinol carefully, being sure not to use too much, but also targeting the areas you need. Place a small amount of the cream on your index finger and rub it gently into the areas of your face that most need the acne treatment. Rub the cream into your skin until it is no longer visible. Give the cream a little time to operate before rinsing your face off. If your skin starts to burn, tingle, or feel odd in any other way, be sure to rinse immediately as you may be experiencing an allergic reaction.
Washing your Hands and Face
After you have applied the resorcinol acne treatment, be sure to thoroughly wash your hands. Resorcinol should never be ingested. Before rinsing your face with any other washes or products, give this cream time to work. Unless your skin starts to feel uncomfortable or you begin feeling feverish or otherwise ill, the resorcinol is doing its job. After allowing several minutes for the nutrients soak into your skin, you can rinse your face as desired.
Other Facial Products
Other products may be used with resorcinol if recommended by a doctor. Sulfur-based creams are typically used as spot treatments or as a supplement. If you are applying another cream to help the resorcinol work, follow the instructions above with this other product. Make sure you have washed your hands before and after use, and make sure your face is free of debris. When combining many different products, consult a healthcare provider before using them to make sure you are aware of any possible side effects.
Precautions with Resorcinol
Resorcinol should always be kept out of reach of children and pets. While it can be used in combination with other acne products as listed above, you should never use something that is harsh on the skin or that might dry it out, as this may cause scarring or otherwise damage the skin. Additionally, be sure that you always avoid your mouth and eyes during application.
Resorcinol is very powerful, but needs to be tempered with a degree of caution. It can treat acne and many other skin disorders, but care needs to be taken with how it is applied as it can be harmful to the mouth and eyes if it gets too close. Overall, this is a treatment you should be careful with, but one that will almost certainly eliminate your acne problems.
